Spotlight Volunteer: Joanne Cavallo
This month our volunteer star shines on Joanne Cavallo . Having been in the beauty business her entire career, she worked for twenty years as a makeup artist for the large cosmetic companies as a licensed esthetician. After a 20 year hiatus to raise her family, she began to research the best ways to utilize her experience and skills. An internet search brought her to Glamour Project, a perfect blend for her professional skills and a deep desire to volunteer and help the homeless.
In addition to her work with Glamour Project, she is now the Lead Educator for the Advance Beauty School in Laguna Hills, CA. Building the curriculum, running the department, event planning, arranging vendor visits and demonstrations are only a part of her many responsibilities. She will often bring her students to Glamour Project events and together they can experience the profound effect a bit of makeup, dress up and pampering has on these women who have experienced a severe loss.
Joanne is an inspiration to all of us as she embodies and lives up to her school's motto of “Educate, Inspire and Give Back.”
